Is Hypnotherapy for Driving Anxiety
right for me?
Driving phobia is actually an incredibly common phobia, I honestly see many people who are experiencing a fear of driving, it really is very prevalent. Sometimes it can be that someone started off learning to drive just a little later in life and never quite gained a sense of confidence on the roads. However most of the time it seems to that for whatever reason an individual starts to develop a a fear of driving. At times there may have been an event the precipitated the Anxiety for driving. often though this isn't the case,
The fear of driving is just like any other phobia, or anxiety. It is a paralyzing and limiting but is an irrational fear brought on by the fight or flight and Amygdelic response. A full blown fear of driving phobia is when a person will not drive at all. Very often though it can be a sense of the world shrinking down. So I have found in my experience that the client may begin to some sense of unease on perhaps motorways, then they avoid the motorways, feeling that they cant now go on these roads. then it might be A roads, or areas that they aren't familiar with. This can continue to such a point that can be incredibly frustrating, restricting and upsetting. To a point where many just dont drive in the end. They may even have their own car sitting on the driveway waiting for the day when they can overcome the fear. Unfortunately the fear will not go away, or fade on its own, and the more the person avoids and resists driving the more the fear of driving will become embedded in as a belief, no matter how difficult their life may be as a result of not driving.

The Brain and Anxiety
What really is Anxiety?
Feeling Anxious is a complex emotion that can be described as a feeling of apprehension or fear about the future, often accompanied by physical symptoms such as increased heart rate, sweating, and muscle tension. In the context of psychology, anxiousness and some anxiety, is considered a normal and adaptive response to stress or danger, but when it becomes chronic or excessive, it can interfere with daily life.
The brain structures involved in anxiety include the amygdala, which is responsible for processing emotions, particularly fear, and the prefrontal cortex, which is involved in decision-making and regulating emotional responses. The amygdala plays a crucial role in the fear response by triggering the release of stress hormones, such as cortisol and adrenaline, and activating the sympathetic nervous system, which leads to physical symptoms of anxiety.
The nervous system also plays a key role in anxiety, with the sympathetic nervous system responsible for the "fight or flight" response, and the parasympathetic nervous system responsible for calming the body down after a stressful event. In individuals with anxiety disorders, the sympathetic nervous system may become overactive, leading to chronic stress and heightened anxiety symptoms. This may involve repetitive thoughts about a subject matter that we perceive as giving us Anxiety, like Anxiety around driving.
Overall, anxiety is a complex emotion that involves a range of psychological, brain, and nervous system factors. Understanding these factors can help individuals with anxiety develop new ways of seeing these patterns and changing perhaps our interpretation of fears, or phobias like the Fear of Driving, by the use of Hypnotherapy for Driving Anxiety.

This is where Hypnotherapy for Anxiety about Emetophobia can really work wonders. By using Hypnotherapy and other therapies such as NLP, we can really help to reset the nervous system and get to a point where we are reacting in accordance with our environment and not our fears. The most common two words I hear in my office is the "WHAT IF" pattern; even if you don't use those words, if you are experiencing anxiety, then to some degree, you are unconsciously running this pattern. So if you would like to have a different experience around Anxiety, then please feel free to contact me.
Anxiety often seems like a battle; part of our unconscious is creating this feeling. The reason may or may not be known at a conscious level. This struggle can be played out over and over again in our mind in specific locations or contexts. Although at other times, it can be all-consuming and seem to be constant. Trying to rationalise that we have nothing to fear really about being sick, or seeing someone else be sick, doesn't work you are just fighting your own unconscious beliefs. We as human beings obviously do not enjoy the feeling of being anxious and try naturally to control or resist this feeling; we also tend to externalise the feeling, meaning we feel as if something is taking over us at these times. We need to recognise that everything we feel, good or bad, is generated by our unconscious processes and is just part of us that strives for the need to feel safe. This is why coping strategies' really don't work.

around the Fear of

I can't guarantee an outcome, but there is every chance of profound change. By employing Hypnotherapy and other therapeutic techniques, I aim to help my clients not just to live with the feeling but to release the grip of the experience of Anxiety, by using the power of Hypnotherapy for Driving Anxiety.
